From surgery to recovery, your pet's comfort and care are our top priorities.
Throughout your pet’s life, they may need to undergo certain surgical procedures in order to prevent unwanted conditions and treat injuries or certain diagnoses. At Coastland Veterinary Centre, our team will walk you through the specifics of your pet’s surgery so that you feel informed and at ease throughout the entire process. Our veterinarians specialize in different types of surgeries to provide the best care possible for your pet.
The short answer is no. Our team will typically use general anaesthesia so that your pet will feel zero pain or discomfort throughout the entire procedure. Our veterinary surgeons use the most up-to-date techniques and equipment to guarantee optimal results, minimal discomfort and quick recovery.
There are many reasons why pets may need to go under the knife. For example, spays and neuters (where their reproductive organs are removed), as well as microchipping, are routine procedures that most pets will have to undergo in their lifetime. One of the most common reasons why a pet may need surgery is due to accidents and injuries. Broken or fractured bones will need to be addressed with orthopedic surgeries. Some breeds of pets are also more prone to developing conditions such as hip dysplasia, for which orthopedic surgeries are also required.
Aside from those mentioned above, your loyal companion may need surgery due to several other factors. As you know, pets are very curious and they may swallow foreign objects or accidentally have items lodged into themselves. With these cases, immediate care must be provided in order to remove the foreign items and prevent any further injury, especially to their internal organs. Skin lumps and tumours, masses on the eyes and broken teeth are other cases that may involve surgery.
The entire cost of the procedure truly varies with each case, as we take a tailored approach with every patient. Our team will be more than happy to answer any of your questions regarding service fees and explain to you the reasoning behind all of the components of your pet’s surgical procedure.
